*** I may go hard with this one***
Has anyone noticed how much people judge other without knowing fact? How people will call you out of your name, and think it's alright? How someone can draw a conclusion based on something they THINK they see? Has anyone noticed?
Let's begin.
Honestly... can I live? Can I love? Peace of mind... please. I'd like to be able to be the person who God himself designed me to be without having to worry about what someone else might say about something they THINK they know. I'm glad I don't allow myself to be defined by what others say. Sure some things may be true, but I am who I am and quite frankly, your biased opinion does NOT matter.
Who do you think you are to come at another on a level of disrespect? Who are you to judge another? Why don't you first look inward?... Many times people are so full of hatred, and try to cover it up calling you their "friend". They'll come at you and try to BREAK YOU DOWN. But we must no allow them to do so. Why let anothers ignorance define you? You know who you are, and that is all that matters. Can you hear me yet?
Let's go...
You claim to know me. You claim to know everything about me, my life, my heart, my mind, my friends, and the list goes on. Have you ever taken the time to not only ask, but to listen? Sure you may come to me and ask something; but not out of love, from the simple fact that you are indeed NOSY and have no life of your own to look at. If you want to know something, ask. If you want clarification, ask! When you're in a situation where you don't know something, don't open your mouth with ignorant hogwash. PLEASE. When you come at another with your thoughtlessness, you do in fact look dumb. Take these words; digest them, learn them, live by them... A STILL TONGUE MAKES A WISE HEAD. Observe first, then speak... If you don't genuinely care about me, there is no need for you to know about my life. Don't worry about me doing me, DO YOU!
PLEASE don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be rude, mean, hateful, or anything of the sort. I am simply stating fact with nothing but love in my heart. I am not mad nor am I upset, I just wish for my readers to leave with something. If you don't like what I say, I respectfully ask that you still listen. Why you ask? Because this is MY truth. GET SMART! Don't get caught in the world of oblivion.
Another work of DIVINE ENERGY !
I LOVE my readers...
don't forget... GET SMART!

Do You Love Me... Really?
In the world we live in today, we come across many people who we think we know very well. We also come across people who think they know us. In all actuality, there is a limit as to who you can call a "friend". Some say that friends are a dime a dozen, but true friends come your way once in a magenta moon. Over time, and as we grow older, many but not all of us learn that there are not many people who truly have your best interest at heart. They may claim they do, but when it all falls down, those same people are the first ones who leave your side. The people who one should call friends are the same ones who don't fail you. Those same people who even in you darkest hour, they're there just as a sign of comfort. Friends are the ones who will tell you about yourself, but only mean it out of love. Even in the face of an argument, a true friend will not allow nonsense to overshadow the value of a friendship. When you think about it, you'll find that a true friend not only expresses their love for you with words, but shows their love through selfless acts.
In personal experience, I've found that a lot of those who expressed "undying" love for me, really didn't love me as much as they said. Why you ask? Because when a problem arose, or when something occurred that they didn't like, they were the ones who dropped me like a hot potato. Do I feel some sort of animosity towards these people? No. Do I wish I had known of the end result before hand? It is quite possible. I wish I would have been able to protect my heart from the pain of the loss of yet another person I loved. The fact of the matter is that if any one of these people who I called "friends" were to come to me honestly, and said "Tresa, I need you..." I would be there. Regardless of how things ended, if I considered someone a friend, they always have me as a shoulder to cry on or whatever the need be. Will I allow myself to be taken advantage of and hurt? Absolutely not, but I will always lend an ear, shoulder, love or my knowledge.
In my life, I've met some wonderful people. I only try to befriend genuine people who I see a light in. When first getting to know someone, they may underestimate my loyalty as a friend. There are many things in the world that are important to me, but the need a true friend exceeds many of them. In most cases, it shouldn't matter what one is doing. If you see that a friend is in need of love, give it to them. Other things can wait, but a friend can be gone in the blink of an eye.
Show those who you love that you love them. Don't just tell them when it's convenient. Don't fail those who would do anything for you. LOVE is the new movement, and even if you find that there's someone who you don't necessarily consider a friend is in need, spare them a moment of your time. Just a moment of your time goes a long way. Don't allow people to think of you as unkind, show you love to all. Regardless of if you like or agree with what they do. If you have been known to turn people away, change your ways. If I tell you "I need you," do not harden your heart. Rather show me the love you have within you. Do unto others as you would have done unto you. LOVE others because Christ first loved us.

A New Day Awaits Me
The sun has arisen. A new day awaits me. The aftermath of yesterday's actions are upon me. Overwhelmed by emotions, my heart feels like a nuclear explosion.
I think to myself, "Do not dwell on yesterdays actions, but on the undeniable triumph tomorrow." Yes, strength is coming. Put the sullenness behind.
Although my heart is heavy, a new day is awaiting me.
Tears are but a temporary solution. The new day awaits me.
It's time that I face my demons, for my victory in inevitable.
Because more powerful than any pain or sorrow, is my inner joy; and I will persevere until I have overcome my obstacles.
The only thing that has kept me from success is the fear of failure. No longer will i be held back by fear, but motivated by the mere thought.
I have made up my mind. The morning will bring Joy, and yesterday is behind me.
A new day awaits me.
God is Love

Will you still love me tomorrow?
Thought have been hanging on my mind for quite some time,
And I'm longing for a bit of clarity.
I know that today, you're mine completely,
but what about tomorrow?
If I were to give you my everything, would you still be in love with me?
Will you still love me when I'm vulnerable,
and when I just need to cry?
Will you stand somewhere nearby?
If I were to say to you "I need you,"
would you come, or would it be yet another game of taboo?
I don't ask much of you,
and my requests are simple.
All I ask is for honesty, respect, and devotion.
And don't let your pride overcome your emotions.
Will you love me as years pass?
Or when you see that another woman's looks are something mine can no longer surpass?
With each morning, comes a new outlook;
Will I still be the princess in your storybook?
Will you still love me tomorrow if we don't have a romance like that of "The Notebook"?
So, answer me honestly,
because it's taking a lot out of me.
Will you still love me tomorrow?

Black in America: Part 2 - Hateration Nation
*****In advanced, I'd like to take the time out to say that it is never my intention to discourage you, but rather to encourage you. Encourage you not only to change your thinking, but in turn to change your life.*****
I'm sure everyone is familiar with those little people I'd like to call haters, correct? Well in this blog I'd like to not only address them, but the people they hate on. My main focus, however, is the hating that occurs in the black community.
I'm sorry that I always have to go here, but black people just love to hate on each other! And that's the honest truth. I find it so heartbreaking that we always feel the need to break each other down in their endeavors rather than to support one another. Many of us as a community fail to realize that if we worked together as one, we would be able to literally take over the world. Rather than "knocking someones hustle," or discouraging them, why not send a little bit of praise their way? Will it kill you to acknowledge someone who's doing well? Please... spare me the nonsense!
The worst part about this whole thing is that it's not just in the secular world like you think it would be. I can honestly say that a lot of the hateration occurs here by the hypocritical society we call the church. Also known as the people we see as our advisers, and leaders. You would think that the same people who are asking for your money, would take some time to invest in the people who make their jobs possible. Now please don't take what I'm saying wrong, because many and most of our spiritual leaders are amazing and truly inspiring in what they do. However, there are others who think of it as a glamorous job in which they talk about hell, and damnation, and in turn, their words will lead people to Christ. Instead, these words force people as far away as possible from the church, and into other religions (I'm NOT mad at you if you choose to place your faith elsewhere. Honestly, I can understand it.)
I find that in other communities such as the Jewish, Asian, and Italian communities, that they all support one another. Sometimes even with a simple friendly competition. From a young age, they are taught to support each other regardless of whether or not they actually like the other. They exhibit a non-selfish type of love and respect for one another.
As for the people being subject to a constant attempt at a hindrance to your success, don't allow it to stop you. Keep on believing and succeeding. You are your own worst enemy; so if you become engulfed in the negativity, you are nothing but a hindrance to your own self. Keep your head to the sky, and always remember to let your haters be your motivation!

We don't love you hoes
At this very moment, my mind is at a crossroads;
and I'm thinking to myself, "we don't love you hoes!"
You come at me with your ignorant words,
and I can easily return with hateful, malicious slurs.
I'm not a fan of disrespect,
so you can get those distorted thoughts out of your head.
I'm not a liar nor do I speak of fallacies.
So if you're coming, come correctly.
People like you are like futile dreams;
Your vain idealism's, are divergent of realism.
You're living in a world of surrealism; so listen.
Welcome to the mind of a blithesome woman with a lyrical theorem.
If you come in an erroneous manner,
you'll have no one but yourself to blame for a lyrical disaster.
One which will badger your mind & leave you speechless.
It will have you in a boundless array of idyllic outflow.
You'll then know that clearly, "we don't love you hoes!"
and I'm thinking to myself, "we don't love you hoes!"

I wish you love.
There is no need for an acerbic ending;
One with words left unsaid.
Although it hurts,
these bittersweet words have been clouding my head.
A friendship calls for pride to be left aside.
Aside so that the love you hold within may survive.
Don't walk away with bitterness in your eyes;
Say you care with words of love implied.
I wish you all the love in the world.
A love more precious than silver, gold, and mother of pearl.
I wish you a love that surpasses all odds of failure.
A love created for you alone; that is my prayer.
I wish you happiness like that of a child at Christmas.
A undying love that leaves you breathless.
I hope that your heart sings a song of solace.
One that sings out of the dauntless spirit you hold within.
Above all else, I wish you the treasure of a love so captivating.
One with words left unsaid.

Sorry
I am a woman and I'm not an object of perfection
I am a woman who doesn't share your same perception
I'm sorry for the things I can not change, and for the things I wish not to,
and I'm sorry for the way my words may sometimes anger you.
I ask for you to forgive me for the fact that I'm not the model in the magazine.
I'm sorry that sometimes, I let my emotions get to me.
I'm sorry that my hair doesn't come down my back,
and for the fact that I'm not society's definition of Black.
I apologize if I offend you with my knowledge,
and that I've been a lyrical prodigy since I became of school age.
Forgive me if i speak too freely
or if your simple minded words don't appease me.
I'm sorry if you're offended by my prolific compositions,
or the way my serious questions sometimes put you in a compromising position.
So very sorry if my looks don't amaze you,
or if my words of affection don't phase you.
I apologize for the fact that my mother raised me to be a woman of class and distinction,
and that I don't offer you ass and that I'm not your little sex kitten.
I'm sorry for my strong opinions,
and that you belittle yourself just a smidgen,
with your ignorance, and lack of appreciation,
for things like love, family, and education.
I'm sorry if my charisma is a burden to your overactive ego,
or that everyone is feelin' my steelo.
I'm sorry that I am me,
and I'm sorry that that's all that I can and will ever be.
I'm sorry that you can't appreciate the dynamics of me.
If you can't accept my apology, PEACE !

Lessons in Love: Part 2- Chivalry is Dying...
Today I had a discussion with one of my best friends on this earth, Rachael. After this discussion, I asked myself, "What's happened to our society?" It seems as if all morals and values taught to us over time have gone down in ruins. I then continued by saying to her, "chivalry is dead." As sad as it is to say, it's the truth. What is chivalry you ask? Well you already know I'm going to tell you. Chivalry is defined as: The qualities idealized by knighthood, such as bravery, courtesy, honor, and gallantry toward women.
Now the way I was raised is completely different from what I see in the world around me. It seems to me that disrespect towards women is the new "it factor," and it's not appealing at all. The way I go about things is so much different from other women, and I'm completely intolerant of disrespect. Now as I sit here writing, I'm looking towards my past and think about guys who have been in my life. I'm sitting and wondering if they were even worth my time at all. I wonder had they known how things would have ended and how I operate, would they have stuck around?
Now men, what happened to being courteous? What happened to defending your woman's honor? Why is it that you find it funny when another man talks about your woman? What happened to honoring the lady in your life? Remaining faithful to your woman is another part of it. If you expect us to be faithful, I'd expect the same from you too.
Again, it seems like I'll always go back to this simple fact: there was no one there to teach you all how to be real man. If there was, you completely disregarded everything you were taught and it's a shame. And again I must say that men are not completely at fault. As women, it's out duty to establish and make clear the way we want to be treated. In this generation, women are so eager to find a man (any man), that they're willing to settle.
To the ladies, your knight in shining armor is out there somewhere. All you have to do is wait patiently and stop wasting your time with these "busters". To the men, you truly can be some woman's knight in shining armor if you simply apply what you've been taught, and lose the "thug life" mentality. But until then, I'll be waiting for mine...
Just know... chivalry isn't dead, it simply lies in the hearts of few.

Black in America: Part 1
For me, Black in America started as a joke between my mother and I. Over time, I've come to realize it is indeed an important struggle many of us deal with on a daily basis.
The life of a Black or anyone of color for that matter, in America is not as it seems. The facades that the media puts forward are just that... facades. What is a facade you ask? Facade- a superficial appearance or illusion of something. Often times, I find myself getting frustrated with the media for the way they portray people of color. Then I stop and think about it and realize that it's not the media's fault. It isn't the media's job to make us look good. We blame it on the media, when all they've done is put out what they know. Sure, it may not be accurate, and highly exaggerated but yet still they aren't too far off from reality. If you're so concerned, why must we act so NIGGERISH and feed more fuel to the fire? We as people of color should take it upon ourselves to change the way the media views us, and to change the way we view ourselves. In order to change the way we're portrayed, we've first got to change the way we act and think.
This is only part one of a series. I haven't even begun to touch upon what's on my mind.
Keep yourself tuned in for another work of divine energy!

It's time to make strides towards change and hold ourselves in HIGH esteem. There is no reason as to why others should feel that they are entitled to treating us any way they please. As black women, we are God's most prized creation. We are perfection in every way. We are queens, and we should act like them. In the past, we were put down because of the way we looked. Now, we're praised, and everyone else is trying to look and sound like what comes natural to us. Black men, you too are the most beautiful men on the earth. We come in all shapes, colors, and with different takes on the world around us. We truly are a beautiful people!
I give props to the black men and women making it happen for themselves. The ones who are giving the media a run for their money. Let's keep it going please!

lessons in love: part 1
*** DISCLAIMER: this may not be what you want to hear. It is however what you NEED to hear***
First off, let me start off by saying love is more than an emotion or a feeling; love is a state of being and a way of life, and many fail to realize. It pains me so much to see how foolish people can be about love, or what they may think is love. If you're looking for a "textbook" definition of the word love, it is as follows: Love - unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another, warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion. Love is selfless, and many times, tireless. Love is not easy. However, as i quote often, "A perfect love can overcome any worldly obstacle, or mental insecurity" - Tresa Joy. Moving on now...
What you'll find many times is that what you're feeling is NOT love. It is in fact L-U-S-T. Pay attention now... There is a major difference. Lust is defined as follows: unbridled sexual desire. Now let's get deeper into this one. Sex = Love is a FALSE idealism. If that's how you feel, you are sadly mistaken, and if you continue to read, I'll give you some clarity. I understand you're young, and that sex is a part of the world we live in now. Many of you don't see a real need to be serious about things, but it's crucial for people not to misuse words. Words have power. Please don't be confused.
To the ladies:
If a young man says to you anything along the lines of "if you really love me, you'll have sex with me..." it is BULL. Clearly, this man does not care about you. Sex is a major commitment in itself. It is orchestrated by none other than God himself. If a man says that in order to keep him, you must meet his needs [sexually], that's NOT the man you need to be with. Simply because you're going against what you hold close as morals and values. A man who respects you will come in time. You may not want to hear it, but I promise it's true. If you consciously go for it after reading this, I won't call you dumb; however, you are in fact a simple broad. SHAME ON YOU! Many times the man(or boy) you think you're "in love" with is nothing but a figment of your imagination. Sure, he looks good, but what about the interior? Think about that one...
To the gentlemen:
Don't get me wrong. The ladies in fact do bring this upon themselves many times. I do however feel that it's time for you to step up, and MAN up. Don't play the same tricks on females that you wouldn't want played on your mother, sister, or cousin. Why? Because somewhere, there is another man who feels the same way you feel when you see a close female in your life hurting due to the nonsense plays of another male. This man will in fact KICK YOUR TAIL! It's not that you don't know better, it's simply that you choose not to act upon what you've been taught. And in some cases, you DON'T know better. This is no fault to you, but to the man who should have been teaching you how to be a man. Men like this are also to blame for the insecurities in the woman or young lady whom you're trying to play into sex. I whole heartedly appreciate those of you who have stepped up.
To those of you who haven't yet taken that stride, it's time. I won't hold it against you... I promise! :)

Family is eternal...
Yesterday, I went on an outing with my sister, and her boyfriend. After a lot of stress on the relationship between my sister and I recently, today was a breath of fresh air. I think it is so important to stress the importance of family. Regardless of the struggles you deal with as far as your family is concerned, they're all you've got in the end. When all else fails, if you keep faith in God, your family is your best bet on everything, and that's my word.
Although the past few days have been hell in my house, [somehow] I still love my family.

A strong family is like a Georgia pine tree. A Georgia pine tree is a magnificent tree that is deeply rooted in fertile soil, and grows tall. In a family, these roots are also known as your elders. They're the oldest part of the tree and have been on the earth for the longest amount of time. They have knowledge of the weather (trials and tribulations) and how it effects the family. The thing that the elders are deeply rooted in is faith in God (or whomever). The trunk of the tree can be described as the direct descendants of the elders, the middle generation. This generation has gained most of it's knowledge from their parents, and other elders (the roots). They are another crucial part to the family because they keep it standing tall. The trunk of the tree branches out, into the newest generation, also known as their children. This is the generation that is farthest from it's roots, and stray from their faith. This generation is much different from the others because if its eagerness to explore other parts of the world. This part of the tree is equally important. The branches of the tree, also known as the new generation have dreams which come and go. The dreams are known as the needles, and pine cones. Many of these dreams fade away in time, but others manifest into greatness, and grow into yet another magnificent Georgia pine. This can only be achieved through nurturing from their elders, parents, siblings, and God above.
The dynamics of a family transcend all else. The configuration and anatomy of a family is like nothing else on this earth. There are many who are not fortunate enough to be a part of a family. If you're blessed enough to have one, invite others to share the joy of a family. It is so very important to cherish your family because it is another work of precious DiViNE ENERGY.

Hello World ! Just A Few Thoughts
So this is my first blog (clearly), and this is going to be quite the adventure. I don't know why I made one, but here I am! I'm very observatory of my surroundings, and I'm fully aware of the world we live in. It seems that every day, brings a new struggle to a different person. I see the way people are affected, and I also know as fact that people don't need to let the hardships of the world bring them down. Life is something meant to be enjoyed; not dreaded. With the right combination of family, friends, and faith; life is a beautiful thing. As time goes by, I hope to be an inspiration; just as over time, people have inspired me. I feel that every now and then, everyone needs to hear things they don't necessarily want to, and in my blog, I'm going to to a lot of that (trust me). Whether it be through poetry, or just through a flat out blog... That's all for now!
